Here are some facts about usacycling
There are six additional World Cup Cross-Country events scheduled for 2008, but only the results of the next two will be considered in the selection criteria to select the U.S. Olympic Mountain Bike Team. The top American women in World Cup standings are Georgia Gould (Fort Collins CO) and Mary McConneloug (2004) (Chilmark MA). The highest-ranking American men are Adam Craig (Bend), and Todd Wells, (Durango), CO).
Gould is currently in seventh place with 360 point and McConneloug in 16th place with 218 points. Craig currently sits in 15th place with 230 points. Wells is only ten points behind in 16th. Jeremy Horgan Kobelski’s strong performance in Madrid has pushed him into 43rd and put him back in contention to face Craig and Wells over two months to win his chance at competing at the second Olympic Games.
The three-week hiatus for the cross-country World Cup is now. The U.S. Olympic hopefuls are expected to resume their search for places on the Beijing-bound squad. Round four is scheduled for May 31-June 1, Vallnord (Andorra). The fifth race will be held in Fort William, Great Britain, one week later.
Next weekend will see the Mountain Bike World Cup continue with the first round of gravity racing at Maribor, Slovenia.
